Moyglare Stud's homebred Elizabeth Jane (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}–Sapphire {Ire}, by Medicean {GB}) sported her owner's second silks for Saturday's Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden and made a mockery of 16-1 odds with a power-packed display, collecting a 'TDN Rising Star' badge, in the one mile distaffers' test.

The March-foaled chestnut was off the tempo in rear for the most part and inched forward rounding the home turn. Nudged along at the top of the straight, she made relentess headway to gain an edge passing the furlong marker and scooted clear in style to easily account for Andromeda (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) by an impressive 4 1/4 lengths. Elizabeth Jane becomes the 38th Rising Star for her sire (by Dubai Millennium {GB}), whose list includes sires Too Darn Hot (GB) and Zarak (Fr).

“She'll be a lovely filly next year when she fills out into her frame,” said winning rider Donagh O'Connor. “She was a bit sluggish from the gates and I just had to bide my time. She was a bit behind the bridle which was ideal on that [heavy] ground. Before we turned in I gave her a squeeze and she was instantly into my hands and cut through them like a knife through butter. She was a bit idle in front, but still quickened away from them and took plenty of pulling up which is always a good sign.” Kris Weld added, “She is a regally bred filly with a great attitude. She went through the ground, which you wouldn't have been sure of beforehand, and Donagh gave her a lovely ride. She's won impressively.”

Elizabeth Jane is the sixth of seven foals and fourth scorer out of G2 British Champions Fillies & Mares victrix and G1 Pretty Polly S. second Sapphire (Ire) (Medicean {GB}), herself a half-sister to seven black-type winners headed by four-time Group 1 winner and Saturday's G2 British Champions Long Distance Cup runner-up Kyprios (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). She is a half-sister to G2 Kilboy Estate S. third Kiss For A Jewel (Ire) (Kingman {GB}), the dual Group 3-placed Federica Sophia (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and a yearling colt by No Nay Never. Descendants of Elizabeth Jane's second dam Polished Gem (Ire) (Danehill), herself a daughter of G1 Irish 1000 Guineas victrix Trusted Partner (Affirmed), also include dual G1 Irish St Leger heroine Search For A Song (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and G1 Prince of Wales's S.-winning sire Free Eagle (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}).
